Marina Rodrigues is not Miss Portugal Universe 2011

Several beauty pageant outlets and other specialized pages, including Wikipedia’s entry on Miss Universe 2011, report, erroneously, that Portugal will be represented by Marina Rodrigues. The information is not true.

Rodrigues, 26, was crowned Miss Portugal 2004 during the conclusion of a reality show called “Sonho de Mulher” (Dream of a Woman). Afterwards, she worked in her country as a model, and also made headlines when she dated popular football player Cristiano Ronaldo, also from Portugal.

Earlier in the year, Global Beauties reported that Portugal would be back at the Miss Universe pageant as sources report that deals with a local franchise holder have been made. However, there is no information at the moment about who will represent the European country at the 60th Miss Universe pageant in Sao Paulo.

Wikipedia’s entry on Miss Universe 2011 has had several sourcing issues during the past months, stating rumours and hearsay as facts.  It is not, at the moment, the most reliable source about the beauties who will be participating in this year’s contest.
